Synopsis :
Olivia Warren used to be a normal girl with a bright future.
But on one fated night, everything changed.
Hiding the scars of her past up her sleeves, Olivia transfers her enrollment from Columbia University to The College of Charleston, determined to pursue her own dreams for the first time in her life.
She intends to allow herself a bit of alone time to heal… that is, until she meets Preston.
Preston is best friends with her roommate, completely hot, and off-limits. But the chemistry between them is instantaneous—and as the pair begins to spend more time with one another, their feelings for each other build into something undeniable, something powerful enough to heal Olivia’s deepest scars.
Olivia tries to put her own past behind her and trust Preston, but she discovers that his past might be more present than she ever bargained for…
My review :
Olivia is starting a new life in a new college, not Colombia like her father wants but in Charleston. She lives in a dorm with Kara her new roommate. She’s running away from her past. Her roommate best friend is Preston Riggs and the man is so hot.
Olivia is a good main character, she wants to escape her past and never think about it again, but life is hard and that’s not possible. She’s just an amazing character, I loved reading about her sessions with Rose and how she gave Olivia the kick she needed to deal with her past. I like all the moment with Preston because he’s help her without knowing it. It’s good to see her healing and learn again to love.
I love Preston, even if he has his own issues, he’s here for Olivia and he wants to know her more. He’s so kind even if he treats girls badly. When Olivia shares a little pieces of her, he accepts and don’t judge.
Kara is so fun, she’s the girl who can be your best friend without question, she have problem on her own but she’s important for the story and I like her.
Rose is absolutely awesome, she’s a great therapist and she’s a great force to Olivia, she gives good advice and she’s always here for her. She’s more a friend than a therapist and their sessions are great and sad sometimes.
I loved it! Melissa West did a great job writing this book, I couldn’t help but cry with Olivia. I wanted her to be able to move on from her past. Not forget, like she was trying to do, but to move on and live her life. I couldn’t put it down. I cry more than one times and seriously it’s a very great book.
I enjoyed the complexity of the characters of this book and the emotions that this book brought out. I like the way the relation between Preston and Olivia evolves, they learn to love each other.
I like the fact that Olivia doesn’t want for Kara to be exactly like Trisha, I liked the moments when Olivia remembers the evening, the moments when she remembers her friends and where she sees herself in photo.
Pieces of Olivia will leave you feeling HOPE by the end of this book and you must buy it and read it. It’s such a great book, my feelings were put in hard tests and Melissa West made a success of his blow because I like feeling feelings by reading a book.
This my first Melissa West book but now Gravity is in my TBR because she’s just an amazing author.
The next book will tell the story of Kara and I can’t wait because December is really too far.
Thanks you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
