C-Origin

Synopsis :

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

My review :

Katy is taken by Daedalus and this is not a good thing, They urge Katy to surpass herself to discover the limit of her powers. It is very hard mentally for Katy, she will not go out of it unhurt. The only thing which makes her good it’s to think of Daemon, while hoping that he’s safe. Daedalus, will learn her many things, that she will not believe at once. All Luxens are not good, certain want to destroy the human race.

While Katy is held by Daedalus, Daemon is in panic and thinks only of a single thing : bring Katy back and protect her for ever.

Katy is so strong in the book and in the same so fragile. The things which arrive at her while she is a prisoner are really horrible. And when we think of it, Beth and Dawson underwent even worse and hanging much longer. I loved a lot Katy in this book, mainly because I found her very strong, she prefers to undergo knocks that to knock without any reason.  I appreciated the fact that Jennifer L Armentrout shows us the fragile side of Katy. It did not arrive very often in the other books and it is important.

“I refused to fight them-to beat up on them or potentially kill them if things got out of hand. It was like being in a real, albeit messed-up, version of “The Hunger Games”.
“The Hunger Games” for alien hybrids.”

Daemon is discouraged, he does not know how to find Katy. When finally he finds Katy, he discovers that she is not well, does not smile and does not want to speak of what happened to her.  It is hard for him, he feels guilty and obviously ill-treatment is not finished. I adored Daemon, he is always so protective whether it is to Katy or to his family. But we discover him so sad and powerless with regard to what arrived at Katy. He has a big revelation at one moment and my heart capsized.

“Did you think you could stop me? I’ll burn the world down to save her.”

“There’s only one thing I want.”
“And that is?”
“I want to see Kat.”
Nancy’s smile didn’t fade. “And what are you willing to do to accomplish that?”
“Anything,” I said without hesitation, and I meant it. “I will do anything, but I want to see Kat first and I want to see her now.”

We also discover Archer, he is the guard of Katy within Daedalus and I really liked at once this character. I have thus already too much said it I stop on this character there.

“I’m Dee Black. I’m the sister of the douchebag known as Daemon.” She smiled brightly. “But you probably already know that.”
“That’s he’s a douchebag or that he’s your brother?” Archer asked innocently. “The answer is yes to both.”

We find Luc and Paris, who are even more important in this volume. I like very much these two characters, I find that they bring a lot of thoughtlessness thanks to their dialogues.

“Me and Katy look adorkable in extraterrestrial
highway shirts. You would just look stupid. You can thank me later.”

“All right … anyone who gets into one of these cars outside is in it for the long haul … If you even think you’re not ready to put your life on the line for everyone here, then you stay behind. If you screw us out there, I will end you.” He flashed a rather charming smile. “And I will probably enjoy it.”

Dee, Dawson and Bethany are present also, I really became attached to Dawson, mainly because I like the relation which he maintains with Katy. Beth is not well and I understand because it’s hard to leave Daedalus in good shape.  I liked a lot Dee’s reaction when she speaks to Daemon and even after. I hope to see a little more this lightness than I found at Dee’s at the end.

“He can read your mind without even knowing.”
Dee’s face went from pale to bright cherry. “Oh God.”

“What?”

She smacked her hands over her face. “Well, the whole time we were downstairs, I was picturing him naked.”

Ash, Andrew and Matthew will be present too and as usual Ash will not be pleasant with Katy.

I really loved a lot this book, in particular the creation of a relation between Katy and Archer. I also like the deepening of the relation between Katy and Daemon, reunions between Katy and Dee and all the various relations between the characters. There was no moment without action, it is even stressful because the end arrives too fast. And what an end!!!  Jennifer knows how to captivate her public, I fear the worst for the last volume and I really hope that August 5th will come very fast now. We learn much more on Luxens and on what makes Daedalus. I liked the wink of Jennifer to Wendy Higgins and after reading sweet reckoning I find it even more brilliant. And it fits well to Daemon.

Jennifer L armentrout has still made a miracle with this book, he is just fascinating, full of love, sadness, condolence and funny and soul-stirring dialogues.

If you haven’t read it yet, go because it’s the best of the series for the moment.
