Blood games

Synopsis :

While Merit didn’t choose to become a vampire or Sentinel of Cadogan House, she vowed to fight for her House and its Master, and she’s managed to forge strong alliances with powerful supernaturals across Chicago. But even though Merit has had wild adventures, this may be her deadliest yet…

A killer is stalking Chicago, preying on humans and leaving his victims with magical souvenirs. The CPD hasn’t been able to track the assailant, and as the body count rises, the city is running out of options. Vampires and humans aren’t on great terms, but murder makes for strange bedfellows. Can Merit find the killer before she becomes a target?

My review :

We find Ethan and Merit in search of a killer. Merit’s grandfather calls her as consultant to solve the murder of detective Jacob’s son. In the same time, Cadogan’s house is in the eye of the storm, again, Ethan is threatened and someone blackmailed him.

Merit has a lot of work between the murder, Ethan’s protection, the GP and the GR but she can count on Jonah for help, and also on the Ombudsman, Luc, Lindsey and Ethan. She’s learning how deep her feelings for Ethan are, she knows she loves him but she’s ready to die for him. She can accept a lot of thing from him now and she discovers herself.

Ethan on the contrary, doubt of her, not exactly but he thinks that if she knows the truth about his past, she leave him and he can manage it. He loves her too much. He wants to protect Merit but with all the GP issues is a little hard for him.

We see Catcher, Jeff, Chuck, Luc, Lindsey Jonah, Malik and some new character but the thing I like is the return of Mallory. I miss her and her blue hair.

The story is well built and the relation between Merit and Ethan deepens. I love when they are together because they are so great even when they fight.

I don’t know where Chloe Neill bring us but I love it and anticipate it in the same time. I want a big great future for all the Cadogan’s vampires and I want love for Merit and Ethan, Luc and Lindsey, Catcher and Mallory, Jeff and Fallon and I want to see Jonah happy.

In Bloog Games we don’t see the Pack or Merit’s father but I presume that we’ll see them soon.

The action is always present and I like that, there isn’t a moment when you put your book on the table. This book is a turning point in the story and it augurs many problems to come.

I can’t wait to read the next book because the end is just crazy. Three more books and it will be the end of Chicagoland Vampires so I will enjoy all the books to come.

If you haven’t read this series yet, go and read the first one.

Thanks to Chloe Neill and Penguin Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read Blood Games and review it.
