Before I ever fell in love with Bryce, there was Hayden. Hayden was my first love, the kind of love that takes your breath away and you remember forever. My love story with Bryce came later. Much later, after everything had happened.

Avery Hill and Hayden Stuart are high school sweethearts and each other’s first true love. When Hayden is accepted to college in Los Angeles, Avery intends to follow him so they can build a life together. After a tragic chain of events ruins their plans forever, Avery is left to pick up the pieces. Will she survive all that was lost? And will she forgive the man who destroyed her and Hayden’s dreams forever?

My review :

SPOILER INSIDE

Just us is the story of Avery and Hayden. In the beginning they are best friends and their story evolves.

Avery is innocent, she doesn’t understand her feelings and she doesn’t want to be more than friend with Hayden because she doesn’t want to lose his friendship. Fortunately Hayden is obsessed by Avery and he will do everything to get her.

Just us is nice, without surprise but it’s refreshing. Hayden is a kind boy who loves Avery, he has also Bryce, his best friend.

Avery isn’t a character I like in the beginning, too much questions for a young girl but after all I like her.

The author manages to make us love her characters and the tragic end, even if it’s not a surprise, is well describe. I cry so much in the end for all the characters. The story is told by Avery.

In just you, the story is about Avery and Bryce, five years after the tragic end. The first part of the book is told by Bryce and the second by Avery.

Bryce and Avery are damaged, the loss has been strong for both. I like Bryce since the first book and I haven’t been surprise to read that he loves Avery before Hayden. The guy is broken since his childhood and the accident didn’t arrange that fact. He will try to bring Avery to life again.

Avery is self-destructive and Bryce will help her but she helps him too. They are both damaged and in need of forgiveness.

I like this book a lot more than the first but I also cry a lot more.

I really love the characters in these 2 books even if sometimes Avery makes me want to hurl and hit her.

Riley J. Ford is great to write about broken people. The character feelings are so real and you want to hug Avery and Bryce. I appreciate the fact that the story is in 2 pov.

Both books could be read easily because they are short story and if you want a real story about love, forgiveness and real life, you will like these books.
