My review :

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

When I read the synopsis for the first time I was attracted by this book. I like dystopia and this book goes perfectly into the category. We are in 2044 and the United States government failed, the new government was set up with two important groups : The Ministry of Security and The Ministry of Health. There are various strains of herpes and all the citizens must be careful. Full body condoms, latex gloves, avoiding skin to skin contact, and a universal disinfectant, are all commonplace in society. People who are infected receive magnetic tattoos on their wrists and their movements are tracks. You should always check your partners for the tattoo and take full precautions before making any contact.

Willow Carlyle works for the ministry of Health and one night she meet a man without tattoo and sleep with him, but this man was infected and now Willow is diagnosed positive, receives her tattoo, loses her job and discovers The Camellia Resistance.

During fifty first pages, I was not convinced, I had difficulty going into the story and appreciating the various characters. But from the moment Willow understands her state and accepts it the story becomes exciting and interesting. And now I can’t wait for the next book because I want to know where all this story will brings Willow, Ven, Ianthe and Kiri.

At the beginning, I didn’t love too much Willow, I found her too naive and selfish but according to the book, she accepts her fate and I find her stronger.

Ianthe is also a character whom I appreciate because she in spite of the fact that she is a member of The Camellia Resistance, she doesn’t hesitate to help Willow when the need is felt.

Ven is a mercenary and even if we don’t see him much in this book, I like the way he act and the way he think.

So if I must say one thing it’s : Read this book till the end even if the beginning is a little bit long to be set up because The Camellia Resistance is a good book which deserves to be read.

About the Author

A.R.’s Blog / Twitter / Google + / Goodreads

A.R. Williams is obsessed with language and myth, not just playing with words and making up stories, but with the real-world impact that our words have on the way we live. Words are the only puzzle that never gets boring, and writing is the only thing she has wanted to do consistently. Other interests, such as sewing and photography, become alternate means to feed the writing habit.

Ms. Williams feeds her obsession with curiosity: people, philosophy, technology, psychology, and culture. Living in Washington D.C. is a good source of inspiration. From the sublime heights of arts and achievement available for free at the Smithsonian to the bureaucratic banality of Beltway politics and scandals, it is a great city for fantasy, possibility, power, and consequence—ideal fodder for the fictional life. She lives between an ordinary external life filled with time cards, meetings, and deadlines; and an extraordinary imaginary world where anything is possible and everything is fueled by music.
