Review :
This review can contain some little spoilers.
This is the story of Charlotte who lost her parents in a car accident, she’s now alone with her big brother, Sean. She feels lost and the only person who understands her is Jason Leer.
They are soul mate and they are attracted to each other, Jason is protective and jealous but the only thing is want is Charlotte’s safety. Jason and Charlotte both lost family and are drawn to each other to make the pain go away.
Charlotte is not a character I like, I know many of you think that she’s strong but it’s not my case. Ok she lost her parents but I think she’s a little immature. Her relation with Jason is mostly sexual, they never talk and I don’t think that’s a good think. Some things disturbed me, like the times when she goes to a party and when Wes tells her open your mouth, she does it and takes acid. I’m ok with the fact the drugs and young people aren’t incompatible but I would prefer that Charlotte think a little about what and especially WHY she’s doing it. Because in this scene the boy doesn’t even ask her or tell her what she takes and I’m not ok with that.
Jason is very possessive and sometimes it’s cute but sometimes it’s not. I understand that he wants Charlotte with him for her safety but he doesn’t let her do what she wants. I think that their relation is not healthy and I hope to see something different in the second book.
The story would have been able to be very interesting and fascinating but in the finale I found it long. I had difficulty in plunging into the story even if it’s well written. The grammar and spelling are good but I wasn’t attracted by the story.
Eliza Freed graduated from Rutgers University and returned to her hometown in rural South Jersey. Her mother encouraged her to take some time and find herself. After three months of searching, she began to bounce checks and her neighbors began to talk; her mother told her to find a job.
She settled into Corporate America, learning systems and practices and the bureaucracy that slows them. Eliza quickly discovered her creativity and gift for story telling as a corporate trainer and spent years perfecting her presentation skills and studying diversity. It’s during this time she became an avid observer of the characters we meet and the heartaches we endure. Her years of study have taught her laughter is the key to survival, even when it’s completely inappropriate.
She currently lives in New Jersey with her family and a misbehaving beagle named Odin. An avid swimmer, if Eliza is not with her family and friends, she’d rather be underwater. While she enjoys many genres, she has always been a sucker for a love story…the more screwed up the better.
