Synopsis

Kalliope lives with one purpose.
To inspire.
As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.
Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.
Her presence may inspire genius.
But it breeds madness, too.

Review

Kalli is a muse, she uses artist to survive, she’s doesn’t want it but she doesn’t have a choice. But one day she met Wilder, he’s hot, sexy and kind.

This story is just beautiful, I love it, Kalli is a nice girl, she is immortal but she wants a normal life. Wilder is a nice guy, he made concessions and stopped the music to be able to take care of his family. I won’t tell you more about the story because it’s important to read it by yourself.

I love the characters, Kalli is an immortal but she lives among the humans and she loves them. I like very much this character, she’s real, she loves people and feels guilty because she doesn’t like what she must do. She aspires to a normal life that unfortunately she cannot have. We all have a small part of Kalli in us.

Wilder left his musical career aside to take care of his family, he is not happy but he made a choice. When these two characters meet it is a magic moment, we feel the desire of Kalli for a normal life and the attraction of Wilder to Kalli. They are a beautiful couple but Kalli doesn’t want to begin a story which could destroy Wilder.

I always liked the stories on the Greek and Roman divinities and I am very happy to be able to read a book which speaks muses and which takes place in our time. It’s the first Cora Carmack’s book which I read and I’m not going to hesitate to read the others because I like very much her style. She has a real talent to write sexy and intense scenes, she can also give you warmly and leave you go at the end. And this end is just horrible, how can I be able to wait now, I became attached to Kalli and Wilder and I would want to read what happens to them now.

Cora please tell me the book two will come fast enough.

coup de coeur

About Cora Carmack

She’s a twenty-something writer who likes to write about twenty-something characters. I’ve done a multide of things in my life—boring jobs (like working retail), Fun jobs (like working in a theatre), stressful jobs (like teaching), and dream jobs (like writing). I enjoy placing my characters in the most awkward situations possible, and then trying to help them get a boyfriend out of it. Awkward people need love, too. She’s a new York Times and USA today Bestseller… and a nerd (mostly the nerd part).

Represented by the fabulous Suzie Townsend of New Leaf Literary.
