Synopsis
Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains adult language, ice-melting kisses, and a swoon-worthy hero. This fake relationship romance will have you wishing for a hockey player of your own…
Natalie West and Toby Cooper were best friends growing up, on and off the ice. But when Toby’s hockey career took off, their friendship was left behind. Now Natalie has a crazy plan to land her crush—Toby’s biggest rival—and she needs Toby’s help to pull it off.
When Nat asks Toby to be her fake boyfriend, he can’t say no. Not when it means getting his best friend back. But Natalie is all grown up now, and spending time with her—even when it’s just playing hockey together—stirs up a lot of feelings, old and new. Suddenly pretending to be interested in her isn’t hard at all…if only she wanted him and not his enemy.
Review
Natalie has a crush on Toby’s cousin, Scott. This last one is back in town and as he always want Toby’s girlfriend, Nat decides to fake a relation with Toby.
I’m not a fan of Natalie, I don’t like the way she used Toby and mostly I don’t like how she’s selfish. She doesn’t think that her actions will make the others suffers. She’s good at faking but the more Scott is attracted, the more Toby suffers. She’s also very naïve, for her Scott is perfect, if he likes her in the end it’s real and not a game, she believes him even when her best friend and Toby tell her to not trust him.
Toby is really cool, he is kind and protective, he always was friend with Nat and now that he’s seeing her more often he begins to see her like more than a friend. They have the same passion for Hockey and they are stubborn. I like Toby because even if he agrees to take part in this game with Nat, he tells her many times that it’s a stupid idea and someone will suffer.
Dawn is Toby’s ex-girlfriend and Nat best friend, she’s amazing, I like her, she’s smart and she’s seeing what Nat and Toby doesn’t see. She’s a good friend for both of them and she always has good advice.
I like the evolution of Toby and Natalie’s relation, I like when they talk about their past because they were best friends and they are missing this. It’s great to see Natalie understand in the end that maybe she’s not attracted by Scott. And Toby’s take some times to tell what he feels and when he tells her, her reaction is awful.
I like the friendship between Toby, Tyler and Winslow, they are part of the same team and protect each other. I also like how Dawn doesn’t hesitate to push Toby to admit his feeling.
Cate Cameron style is great and her books are fast-reading and I always enjoyed them even when I don’t like a character. I haven’t read her first one yet but I will read it when I have more time.
Quick Word: A nice hockey romance with a selfish girl and a very sweet boy.
