Blog Tour Review – Behind The Mask by Linda Joyce

Synopsis

Former model Chalise Boudreau returns to Louisiana after ten years and faces an uncertain future. Watching her budget, she’s living with her mother and plans to open a luxury salon, but she fears the community sees her homecoming as a failing, and she knows any malicious gossip will jeopardize her success.

Once bad-boy, now entrepreneur Chaz Riboucheaux is home and trying to rebuild his old reputation. He believes one of his companies, the Magnolia May, a pirate ship, can make Ascension a tourist destination, but the mayor refuses to grant him a lease at the city’s dock.

Chalise and Chaz come face to face at a Twelfth Night party. Years ago, he stood her up and left her brokenhearted. Now her brain is at war with her heart, but her body has a mind of its own. As Chaz leads her across the dance floor, he knows when the music stops it won’t be the end of their waltz. He has questions only she can answer, and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants.

Review

The story takes place in Louisiana, Chalize come home to open a spa but she doesn’t think she will have to deal with the man who broke her heart, Chaz Riboucheaux.

Behind the mask is a short story, we don’t really have time to know the character very well. I don’t feel empathy for Chalize, she has a broken heart and she didn’t stop to love Chaz. At first she doesn’t want to see him or talk to him but her mother is stubborn and forces her to go out for dinner with Chaz. She doesn’t know what she wants, once she doesn’t want to talk to him but then she let him kiss her and she wants more and finally she push him away. This last one explains the reason of his treason and Chalize has some problem to trust what he said.

Chaz is a great boy, he’s not coming from a healthy family but he wants to prove himself to Chalize, he had always wanted to be with her. I like this kind of love even if I know that it’s nearly impossible for a man to be so perfect. He treats her very well, he loves her, help her and finally he’s here for her when the truth is revealed.

I like them together even if I think that Chalize is too hot and cold sometimes. I don’t understand why she pushes him away because she loves her and he do everything to prove that she can trust him.

I like Linda’s writing style, the only thing I regret is that the story isn’t very developed, there is no surprise.

Quick word: A nice short romance with a perfect man.
