Synopsis
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampire novels, a brand new Devil’s Isle Novel…
The paranormal war that engulfed New Orleans seven years ago is over. But the battle for the city is just beginning . . .
Claire Connolly is a Sensitive, infected with magic when the Veil that divides humanity from the world beyond fell. Magic can easily consume and destroy a Sensitive, and if Claire’s secret is discovered she’ll be locked into the walled district of Devil’s Isle along with every other Paranormal left in the city.
Bounty hunter Liam Quinn discovered Claire’s secret, but refused to turn her in. Together they saved New Orleans from the resurgence of magic that nearly destroyed it. But now a dangerous cult is on the rise, and it will take both Claire and Liam—and magical allies within Devil’s Isle’s towering walls—to defeat the occult threat before magic corrupts them both…
Review
I love Chloe’s writing style, her books are very fast reading and the story is captivating. For this new series, the first book was slow but it was for the setting. The sight is really good, I like the story, the deepness, the characters and I’m impatient to continue it.
Claire is discovering a lot of things about her father; she doesn’t like them all but she’s trying to her best to understand. Liam is here with her, he’s her confident and I like that, he protects her and loves her but he has some doubt because of who he is and what Claire is.
The Sight makes me things about the terrorist attacks all around the world; I explain myself, in this book, Chloe and Liam are opposed to a group who wants to kill every magical people and even people who is helping them. The speech their leader’s gives is absolutely awful and it reminds me of the Islamic State and their war against people who doesn’t think like them.
This book is not really full of joy and happiness, the city is under attack and with all the things Claire discovered she’s a little sad and disappointed.
I can’t tell you more things because you need to read this series and I don’t want to reveal too much. Just know that I love the characters, all of them with their secret and bad side.
The end is a little cliffhanger and I hope all will be well in the next book, because I want Liam, Claire and all the others characters happy and fine but everything is changing and they will have to work hard for happiness.
