Synopsis
Emilia
They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.
Vicious
She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.
Review
Frankly, if there is one thing I can say about this book is that Vicious is not a man I would like to know, I would never have had Millie’s reactions. You’ll tell me, never say never, but there he behaves really like a moron and his disrespect towards Millie is terrible.
Still, I cannot tell you why, and it bothers me a bit, I liked this book. The author has a crazy talent, because I managed to attach myself to this boy, and it’s a feat.
Vicious, whose real name is Baron Spencer, is a rich young man, who treats women as objects. He lost his mother at a very young age and had to live with his mother-in-law and her brother who was beating him. His father was almost nonexistent and suddenly Vicious has become a ruthless man in business but also in the relationship. He met Millie as a teenager, made her live a hell and at this age it’s pretty ruthless. Adolescence is the time of a girl’s life when she suffers all that happens to her power, and it is the experience that speaks.
Millie is a strong girl, yes she still has a crush on Vicious, even if he treated her as something less than anything. When he returns in her life, she tries to keep him at bay but Vicious perseveres. She can even change him slightly.
The relationship between Vicious and Millie is intense in every sense of the word, they go from laughter to tear and anger in a very short time but in the end I think this relationship is good for them. Millie is important to vicious and he needs her in her life to make him understand the important things.
Millie, on the other hand, struggled with Vicious, but it’s also what made her stronger and more independent.
This book is not a hit but I have not managed to let it go before I finish it and the fact that the author manages to make me love Vicious is a very big advantage. I cannot wait to read the next book on Dean because he surprised me a bit.
Quick word: A successful bet with this captivating love story.
