B-Obsidian

Synopsis :

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

My review :

I re-read the Lux series with the Lux Read along hosted by Deity Island. And I can tell you one thing, this book is so hot and awesome, I can’t wait to read it in French in September.

Katy moved in a little city with her mother, she’s a blogger who reads and reviews books, she’s sweet, kind, smart, amusing and sarcastic. She likes Dee and even if Daemon is a pain in the ass she likes him too. She’s a strong girl with a lot of courage. She doesn’t hesitate to help people even if it’s a risk for her. I loved Katy’s personality and I like the way her mind works. She never let Daemon be awful with her without fighting back and I like that.

Daemon Black as Katy’s said is “Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys”. And I agree, Daemon is a strong alien with a lot of power but he doesn’t become friends or close to humans. He really has a bad attitude, he treats Katy like his enemy and he even try to keep her away from Dee. I love the playful dialog between Katy and Daemon, it’s so much fun. I like the way Daemon protect his sister and even Katy.

“Why are you such an ass?” The words came out before I could think twice.

“Everyone has to excel at something, right?”
“Well, you’re doing a great job.”

Dee is a really sweet girl, alien, she’s Daemon’s twin and she wants to be friend with Katy, she wants a normal friend.  She knows that her brother can be an asshole but she loves him.

And there are the Thompsons aliens, Adam, Andrew and Ash. Adam is the nicer of the three, Ash don’t like Katy and she tells her more than one time. And it’s the same for Andrew even if he’s not talking too much.

Now for the plot, I found it was exciting and new. I enjoyed reading a story based on aliens. The book is full of action and you can stop to read it before the end. One of thing I love is the relationship between Daemon and Dee, they cared deeply for each other, Daemon would do anything to protect her from the Arum trying to kill them.

Jennifer L Armentrout writing is smooth, natural, confident and strong. It has you hooked from the first page and it’s filled with action, suspense, love, friendship, alien, humans and a lot of funny dialog. She has a real talent and all of her books are so so great. She can make us love all her characters.

The book is writing from Katy’s POV but Jennifer L Armentrout gives us one excerpt from Daemon POV and that’s so awesome.

The cover is really stunning and the model cover Pepe Toth is just like I imagine Daemon.

Obsidian will bring you in a new world with a hot and swoony boy. And the Lux series is almost finished (so so bad) so if you haven’t begun, go and read it. You won’t regret it.

I love the lux series soooo much too. I noticed it was in the list of some of your favourite series and I totally agree (it’s one of mine too). Have you heard about The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout which is being released soon ?
