Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.
Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.
Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…
My review :
Ok I know I was late to read this book but as the next will be release in two days, I won’t have to wait too long before reading more about Kate and Curran.
Kate go with Curran, Aunt B, Mahon, Derek, Barabas, Keira, George and Raphael in European Pack to protect Desandra.
They know that it’s a trap but they want the panacea and it’s the only way to have it.
This book is just so great, I was always taken by Kate’s story and more we move forward in books more we learn it on her. Kate is a strong, independent, stubborn young woman, since she is with Curran she also became protective to people who she loves. In this book, I want to hug her so many times and tell her : “I know, I’m on your side in this”. I like this girl, she so strong and in this book sometimes she feels so lonely.
“That’s impressive but not really informative, Your Furiness.”
“No, that was a test and you failed it. Don’t follow me.”
Curran is The Beast Lord, his only purpose is to protect his pack and his consort. He doesn’t still take the good decisions and in this case I want to him badly and I’m not the only one.
I appreciate that in Magic rises we see more Aunt B, Mahon and some new member of the pack.
The other characters are just not sweet and kind, mostly with Kate. She is human and the consort of The Lord Beast, they think, she’s weak.
I can’t tell you more things without spoiling you so I stop here for the story.
Ilona Andrews has this thing that made you want to crawl in the book and hug or hit some characters. I want to be Kate even if her story is sad.
I was a little afraid that by introducing many of new characters it breaks a little the rhythm. But it isn’t and the outcome is just magnificent. I look forward to reading Magic breaks which be release on July 29th, 2014.
There is just a thing which I regret it’s that this series isn’t any more translated into France because many of my fellow countrymen would like to have the continuation of Kate’s adventures.
I hope that one day a publisher take the book and give it a second chance.
I think this book is the best of the series for now, it brings many things to the story, shows us that Kate is not insensible, that Curran is not perfect, that the pack is united and that Roland is going to have to be wary of his daughter.
I felt so many things by reading Magic Breaks whom I can only advise it to you.
