My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.
Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known.
That’s where my story should have ended.
Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.
The only question was…
Would I give it to him

Kat is a girl who doesn’t really know what she wants. She lost her parents when she was young and was raised by the Valentine with their twin boys, Branch and Brooks. She is the queen of “I make the wrong choice and don’t assume it” or “I want Brooks but I will be with other men”. Yes I am a little hard on her but it’s what I think after reading this book, at first. It’s not a girl I like, I understand that she’s sad and the Valentine’s are her family but why choose Branch is you don’t love him ? Why choose him if it’s for sleeping with Brooks the night before your wedding ? After that, she flew away and live her life, she makes mistake again. I don’t know what to think of her, she’s weak and in a certain point, she doesn’t respect herself but she really loves Brooks. She depends on men even if she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t want to be alone and she doesn’t care if Brooks is hurt, or Branch or Bobby. Or she cares about them but let them suffer because she doesn’t want to be alone. I really have a hard time with this character because even with all of that I like after a certain page of the book, she’s strong but not for herself, only for Brooks and others, That’s a thing I respect in her.

Brooks is a beautiful person, since he was ten he’s in love with Kat. He didn’t tell her because of Branch. But he always love her and even try to stop her wedding with Branch. He succeeds but only to give her the opportunity to go away. After that when he find her again, she has a life with another man and he try to let go. Unfortunately, she wanted him and dragged him into more problems. Yes I like Brooks, I like the way he loves Kat, the way he protects her. I like their story together but I think that he suffers too much because of Kat. At some point of the book, he’s not so confident in her, he always thinks she could go away without telling him. I think it’s sad because even if he loves her, the trust is an important thing.

Branch is a jackass, it’s his fault if Brooks and Kat haven’t got a happy life. Because of what he said to them when they were young, they didn’t have a chance for love. Look where it takes him, Kat cheated on him the night before their wedding with his brother. I didn’t like him at the beginning of the book, mostly because he doesn’t treat Brooks very well. But Branchs changed and he became a good person, more honest.

I think I was for bobby, yes he made the wrong choice and do unforgettable things but Kat wasn’t the most loving woman. She always told him the truth, she will always love Brooks and Bobby accepted that.

Danica and Walt are the boy’s parents. They are both great, they loves the boys and Kat. They forgive all the things that are done or said like a family and I like that.

The relation between Kat and Brooks is intense when they are together. I like the interaction between the two brothers. I like the love of the family, it’s beautiful. When a Valentine loves someone, he will do anything, forgive everything and protect the people he loves no matter what.

It was a great reading, the author style is good and she knows how to write hot sexy scenes. I only have a problem with Kat’s personality.
