Synopsis
The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?
Review
OMG, this is the book of this year for me and for now. I love the story, the characters, the style and all in this book.
Betrayals, war, revolution, romance, intrigues, forbidden love, inequality furnished the plot.
Mare is a Red, her blood is red and she hasn’t got power or abilities. Only the Silver have power. But everything will change.
I like mare, she’s fast, young, she loves her family and will do everything to help them. But she’s not as smart as her sister and she’s naïve.
Cal is really a great character, he has a good heart even if it’s not what the king wants.
Maven is the other prince and he’s nice and sweet. I like him but I prefer Cal a lot.
Kilorn is Mare best friend, Mare will try everything to save him.
There is a lot of bad characters, you want to hit them, torture them, make them suffer.
Victoria Aveyard has created a great world and some good characters. The story is original and I like the message of this book. It’s so real, poor against rich, this is the actual world, sadly. I like the fact that a poor red girl can change the way of thinking for some silver person.
Some quotes of this book are so powerful
“Anyone can betray anyone”.
“Rise, Red as the Dawn”
This book is a must-read and I can’t believe I have to wait so long for the sequel.
I can’t tell on my review all the good things I feel after reading this book, it’s just wonderful, the only thing I can tell is YOU MUST BUY IT NOW.
