Synopsis (from goodreads)

Claire River’s move to Fort Myer is planned by her mother who died shortly before Claire shifted. The new town seems boring but when Claire meets the handsome Adam Welsh, she is drawn into the politics of a werewolf pack to which Adam belongs and her life turns topsy-turvy. Adam and his pack have kept their identity secret, but when Billy Ray, a member of their pack, starts a fight with the alpha, innocent people get involved. Claire’s friend is kidnapped and turned and the sleepy town turns into a deathly zone due to the war between the werewolves. Adam and Claire find themselves hovering between life and death as fighting escalates.

Would they be able to defeat Billy and thwart his plan, or would Claire also become his new victim?

Review

Claire is a normal girl, or almost. She just lost her mother and moves in a new town, she’s strong and that’s a thing I like. She’s got new friends and the day one of them is kidnapped and transformed she accepts the truth very well, too fast I think. She’s attracted by Adam, who is a werewolf, she has no problem with that, it’s true love at first sight, they trust each other and will do everything for each other, even if it means leave the city and flee together.

Adam is a good boy, he loves his parents, even if they don’t know that he’s a werewolf, he’s trying to do good things and to not let his werewolf side take control. He doesn’t accepts himself and Claire will help him.

Jeannie is really a character I like, she’s funny and she always say what she wants and what she thinks, that why bad things happens to her. Fortunately, Claire and Adam will help her.

Billy Ray is a real bad werewolf, he’s kind of smart but his arrogance will put him in danger, he doesn’t like humans, he wants to kill them and feed from them.

The story is nice and well written, Maldonado show us that a human girl can be stronger than werewolf and accepts them better than themselves. The reading goes very fast and if you love books where there are sassy girls, hot werewolf and bad werewolf, you can read this book.

Adam and Claire are a cute couple but I think things goes too fast, the attraction is great, the love too, but the things that disturbed me a little is that she’s ready to leave a town and even be changed in werewolf only for a boy she knows since so little time. It happens really fast, I know that they are teenagers and they are impulsive but I have a hard time to understand that.

That fact apart, I want to read the second book because now, I want to know who is after her and I also want to find more about her power. Will it disappear if she became a werewolf or will it amplified?

Beauty and the Wolf is a YA book and if you like story about werewolf, you can read it and have a good time.

About the author

L.A. MALDONADO was born and raised in Pompano Beach, Florida. At the age of 17, he moved to West Texas for the next 16 years. In 2010 he thought it would be a good idea to head back to his roots in home state.

Maldonado now lives in Lehigh Acres, Florida, with his small family and two dogs, Esme and Sammy. He’s a fan of most things geeky (think: Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Once Upon A Time, The Walking Dead, all kind of books like Beautiful Creatures, The Vampire Chronicles, Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games, Fear Street, Harry Potter…). He has been in love with books since he was given his first novel on his 8th birthday called “I Know What You Did Last Summer” by Lois Duncan, way before Hollywood ever thought of making a Blockbuster movie out of it.

Everyone who knew him in school says that he is caring, giving, and the brave one out of the group of friends. Every time you see Maldonado, he always has a book in his hand reading. While he was in high school he wrote poems and short stories and had a number of them published in the school newspaper.
