Synopsis (from goodreads)
The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…
It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.
Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.
But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.
Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.
Book 1 in the new adult paranormal TITAN series, spin-off to the best selling COVENANT series.
I was impatient to read this book and I’m not disappointed, if you haven’t read Covenant series, it’s better to do it before reading The Return, you will enjoy your reading a lot more.
The book is told from Seth and Josie POV.
This story takes place one year after the covenant serie, Seth follow Apollo’s orders, he must find a person and protect her. This person is Josie and she’s special.
There are a lot of things I like in this book, I love Seth, he’s sad, and he doesn’t like himself very much actually because of what happened to Alex. Seth is funny, hot, smart and kick ass, I like his personality and you are never get bored with him. He’s haunted by what happened and can’t even think of Alex’s name without feeling bad. Seth do the dirty jobs of the Gods and he hates it.
“I’ve never had anything that was my own. Nothing that was ever for just me and no one else. I’ve never been anyone’s first. I’ve never been anyone’s only.”
Josie is sunshine in Seth’s life, she’s sarcastic, smart ass, cute and she makes Seth laugh. She’s strong and not afraid of what Seth tells about her. She’s really a nice character and when you’ll know what she is and who she is, you’ll be so happy.
“You were making noises again, he said. Little murmurings
Oh my god, seriously ? I so do not like you
That didn’t even sound believable to me, and he grinned.
Yoou, he said, tapping the tip of my nose, are a terrible liar.”
I don’t know for you but in the Covenant series, one of my best characters was Deacon and I am very happy to see him in The Return, we are seeing Luke, Solos, Marcus and Apollo too. I like the fact that we can find old characters that are important. I love the way Deacon speak about Seth, it’s so kind.
“He gave my brother everything. He gave Alex everything, and in the end, he got nothing.”
I really are happy to see Apollo plopping everywhere and mostly in the better moment for pissing off everyone.
“I sensed a disturbance in the force”
I really like the story, I want to know what Jennifer L Armentrout has in her mind for Josie, Seth, Apollo, Deacon and all the other.
Jennifer L Armentrout is a good author who can create characters you loved, hated and loved again. That is Seth for me, I liked him in the first book of Covenant and after I hated him for liking him again in Sentinel. I love him in The Return, he’s more human in a way.
The writing style is very good, there isn’t a big suspense but generally it comes in the second book. I hope Josie and Seth will be happy but I’m afraid that there will be many problems in the second book.
The cover is nice but I prefer the first one for the Arc, but Drew Leighty is awesome and he’s a great Sethie.
If you have read Covenant and want more of Seth, this book is for you.
