Synopsis

My name is Roman Cavenaugh and I’m kind of an asshole.

Running a company isn’t easy, especially when everyone expects you to fail, so being a jerk? It comes with the territory.

I don’t have time to mess around, and I sure as hell didn’t see her coming.

Cara Hamilton—she was supposed to be off limits…a temporary employee brought in during my assistant’s maternity leave.

But, in the blink of an eye, she became so much more.

An obsession I couldn’t shake.

So yeah, I may be an asshole, but now, I finally had a purpose, and soon, she would be mine.

All’s fair in love and war…

Review

If you’ve read Within These Walls and Beyond These Walls, you’ve already know Roman Cavenaugh a little. And you will also be pleased to see Lailah and Jude again.

I like Roman, he’s trying to be better for his family and he’s working a lot. He’s not a kind boss, he doesn’t like people talking in the office or just noises. He’s arrogant and selfish but he’s trying his best to make the society works. When his assistant goes on maternity leave, he must work with a new one, beautiful and fresh. Roman is very hot, handsome and smart, he has some issue with his father but he’s a great guy.

I like Cara too, she’s sweet and naïve but it’s refreshing to see her struggle with her new life in a new city with a boyfriend who has changed. Yes Cara has a boyfriend and it’s not Roman, but this boyfriend isn’t very good at his job, he wants to change her… Too bad, it’s a thing that no woman wants an advice guy! Let us change if we want it, if we don’t that mostly means that you’re not the best for us.

I like the relation between Cara and Roman, it builds slowly and sometimes it’s a hard work for everybody and sometimes it’s fun.

I had a great time with Behind Closed Doors, I’m always pleased when story has romance but not only, the characters have some feelings and they struggle to breathe and leave their life as they wants.

J.L Berg is a great author, I hope you will love this book as much as me and if you haven’t read Within These Walls, go for it before reading Behind Closed Doors.
