The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones
Book ten in Charley Davidson Series
Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin
Publication Date: June 28th, 2016
Rating: 4 hearts
As a Part-time PI and fulltime grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.
There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?
Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murder, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…
Charley always have a lot of issues, she just came back from New York, learn a lot of things about her and Reyes. The only problem is that it’s been a week since Reyes touched her and she can’t confess what she learns to him.
Charley is great, but in this book I think that she is too selfish, she makes decision that involves other people but doesn’t tell them. Reyes as a right to know what he is, it’s not right to keep this secret from him. I understand her reasons because Reyes also has secrets but sometimes I just think that her life will be much easier if she tells the truth.
Reyes is sexy as hell as usual and I like his way to protect Charley and the people they love. I don’t have a lot of thing to tell about him because he is the same in every book, no change and that’s a thing I like, he already suffers so much but it’s not finished, he will tragically learn that.
Uncle Bob, Cookie, Amber, Garrett and Osh are here too, I have a weakness for Osh, I don’t know why but I love him as much as Reyes. Maybe it’s my dark side that is showing again.
Osh is a really good friend for Charley and she asked him a big thing in the end. I’m impressed that he said yes and I’m also impressed that Charley did ask him. It’s a sacrifice and I didn’t think she was capable of it. Our Charley is growing up and she finally learns that she must fight her own battle.
I don’t know how many books there will be in the series but we are approaching the end, or at least I hope because too many things happens to Charley and Reyes and people can’t live so much bad things in a life.
Quick Word: Charley and Reyes learn the truth about themselves.
