Avah Taylor thought she had already faced the worst.
As her coven’s chosen one, destined to receive a power that could kill her, Avah was forced to make the ultimate sacrifice when she gave up her mortal life to become a vampire, the witches’ greatest enemy. But just when she begins to adjust to her new life, even as she falls in love with her sire, the high priestess of her new coven is seized by Rogue vampires.
Guided by Avah’s visions of the past, present, and future, Avah and the other vampires set out to rescue their priestess, but their journey leads Avah to the discovery that the conspiracy behind her power runs deeper than she ever imagined. As her visions grow increasingly terrifying, Avah begins to wonder if she may not have a future at all.
This second book took place at the end of the previous one, the priestess has been abducted and Jasik, Malik, Avah, Lillie and Jeremiah are preparing to go and retrieve her. They’re going to find quite unexpected help with Sebastian and other hybrids.
I liked this second book which offers us a little more action, we also discovered more about hybrids and their powers. This promises a rather impressive final battle, as in the first book I would have liked to see a little more magic. However the story is interesting enough to keep us going.
I have a lot of trouble with people who hide the truth from their friends and I admit that I had even more trouble with Avah. She hides something very important to her vampire friends and especially to Jasik with whom she shares her bed, and I don’t like that. She should know that lying isn’t good and that the people concerned will be even more hurt.
The relationship between Avah and Sebastian is interesting and I would like to see Sebastian linger a little more with the small group. I think the 3rd book will bring us many answers and I hope that Sebastian will find his happiness, as well as Malik.
I had a very entertaining time with this book, Danielle Rose is good at writing scenes of actions but also sexy and hot scenes. I like that the relationship between Jasik and Avah is so strong, they love each other from the beginning even if Avah had difficulty in admitting it. She has no hesitation about the person she is in love with.
I cannot wait to read the third book and find out who is the big bad guy or the big bad girl …
Quick Word: A second book very interesting that takes us into the story even more.
