When the Bat’s away, the Cat will play. It’s time to see how many lives this cat really has. . . .

Two years after escaping Gotham City’s slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that with Batman off on a vital mission, Batwing is left to hold back the tide of notorious criminals. Gotham City is ripe for the taking.

Meanwhile, Luke Fox wants to prove he has what it takes to help people in his role as Batwing. He targets a new thief on the prowl who seems cleverer than most. She has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing’s undoing.

I loved this book, not only does it talk about Catwoman, it’s written by Sarah J Maas but if you follow the Arrow series a little bit, we find Talia and Nissah Al’ghul. We also find Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. What more could you ask for?

We discover the youth of Catwoman and especially how she became this interesting young woman. She doesn’t have a bad heart, what she’s doing is to save her sister. She will have to deal with Batwing, Batman’s friend, who will try to stop her, but she is smart enough not to get caught and make him understand that a greater danger is coming to Gotham.

I loved Catwoman, she is a force of nature, even during her teenage years she had an impressive strength of character. She is a character that I found very interesting from every point of view, she is intelligent, charming and efficient.

I loved Luke too, he’s adorable, he tries to get Catwoman arrested but she’s always stronger than him, yet she doesn’t hurt him. The only small flaw I find in him is his reaction time, he takes far too long to make the connection between Holly and Catwoman.

I loved Poison ivy and Harley Quinn, they both have a very interesting relationship and even if Harley is a little crazy and doesn’t despair of getting The Joker out of Arkham, she’s a very complex character. She deserves to have a book telling her story, but I don’t know who could write her story.

Sarah J Maas managed to convince me with this story about the villains of Gotham and I look forward to Matt de la Pena’s Superman. I would like the series not to stop at four characters because so many others deserve their story, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Nyssah Al’Ghul too.

Quick word: A story I loved and that you can’t miss.

About the author

Sarah J. Maas is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Throne of Glass series (Queen of Shadows, Book 4, will be out in September 2015), as well as the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (out 5/5/15).

Sarah lives in Bucks County, PA, and over the years, she has developed an unhealthy appreciation for Disney movies and bad pop music. She adores fairy tales and ballet, drinks too much tea, and watches an ungodly amount of TV. When she’s not busy writing, she can be found exploring the historic and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside with her husband and canine companion.
