Synopsis

I used to think that my life was a picture of perfection. I had everything a twenty-five-year-old woman could wish for: a loving family, friends, a dream job and a fiancé who thought the world of me.
Until the day I lost it all… Including my ability to see.
The car accident took away not just my vision, but also a part of me that I was sure I would never be able to get back.
And then I met him… Stanley Burke. A kind of a man I thought didn’t exist anymore: understanding, loving, supportive and generally too good to be true.
Without effort, he breathed life into my frozen heart, making it beat faster than ever before.
He became a light that my eyes would never see again. He made me feel things that were long lost and forgotten.
Only I couldn’t give him what he deserved.
Because in my pitch-dark world, there was no place for love…
“I’ve never been so scared of losing someone in my entire life… Then again, I’ve never had anyone as important as you are to lose…”

Review

Diana Nixon has a real talent for making me love her stories, this one is no exception.

We find Stanley, Crystal’s brother, the latter is a plastic surgeon, he will open his private practice. Before the big day, his assistant Emery invites him to dinner at her house, he already knows her husband and children and he is going to meet her sister Ivy.

Ivy is blind after an accident, she has a hard time getting out of her house and even though she has regained her self-confidence since then, she has put an end to men. Well, that was all before Stanley. He will open her mind and teach her to feel alive again.

I loved everything in this book, the characters, the story, the emotions and there is one thing that changes from this kind of romance and that I really loved. I’m not going to tell you what because it wouldn’t be right, but you should know that I really liked it.

Stanley is a good man, he’s a charmer and flirt before meeting Ivy but at the same time he also has the right to enjoy life, he doesn’t hurt anyone. His relationship with Emery is very touching, it seems like she’s like a mother to him when they’re almost the same age. He has a good heart and I find him very touching. It’s really one of the characters Diana created that I love.

Ivy is adorable, she has a sense of humour and even if she doesn’t like going out in public because she doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable, she makes an effort. She knows how to pass for a normal young girl whose blindness no one notices. She resists Stanley’s charm as much as she can, but she will still succumb. I love Ivy very much, her strength of character and her objectivity, I admire her.

I can’t talk about this book without talking about Emery, Ivy’s sister, very kind, who doesn’t mince her words and who made me laugh a lot with her advice, more or less good.

I really fell in love with this story and in all of Diana’s books, I would put it right after Love Undone.

Diana Nixon knows how to bring out the emotions of her characters, I had the impression I was in Ivy and Stanley’s shoes. I don’t think it was an easy book to write and it’s all the more admirable.

Quick word: A perfect story that will fill you with emotions and love.

Chronique
