Synopsis
The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?
A debut YA crime thriller as addictive as Serial and as page-turning as One of Us Is Lying.
Review
This book tells us the story of Pippa who will investigate a possible murder committed five years ago, for which she is convinced that the convicted murderer is innocent.
Pippa is an intelligent, hardworking and resourceful young girl. In choosing the theme for her final year project, she did not expect to discover so much about the people around her. She will also meet Ravi, the brother of the alleged murderer, who will help her to clear his brother.
I really loved this book, it’s well tied up and we really find all the interviews Pippa does, we discover with her who the murderer is and especially all the secrets that people can hide. We are afraid for Pippa at times too and even if there is an attraction between Pippa and Ravi, it is clearly not the subject of the book.
I liked how the different themes of the book were addressed and frankly I am more than delighted to have discovered this talented author. And I look forward to meeting her at the YALC this year.
Quick word: A well-conducted investigation that deserves to be read by everyone.
Chronique
