Synopsis

People lived because she killed.
People died because he lived.

Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the king. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways.

Both are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be.

War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the king on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.

Review

I really loved this book, the story is captivating, you don’t get bored for a second, the characters are endearing and I look forward to discovering the next volume.

Zafira is an independent young girl, she goes hunting every day in the cursed forest near her village. Since women have no right, she dresses like a man and has become the best hunter in her village. When the king sends the best hunters to recover an artifact that will allow the Arz forest to return to normal, Zafira agrees to go.

Nasir, the king’s son and talented assassin’s mission is to kill the legendary hunter. Fortunately, he soon discovered that the hunter was a hunter. I loved his relationship and discussions with Altair and Zafira.

The chemistry between Nasir and Zafira is electric, I really liked the way their relationship develops. I really have a weakness for Zafira and Nasir, I think they complement each other perfectly.

Deen is a character who has his importance in the story, he is the brother of Zafira’s best friend. He’s also in love with her by the way.

Altair is hilarious, haughty and he keeps teasing Nasir, among others. I really like Altair and I’m quite eager to find out what’s going to happen to him in the future.

Kifah and Benyamin are really characters I liked.

The author managed to get me carried away and thrilled with this story, his writing style is perfect and I am really happy to have discovered it.

Quick word: A captivating book to read.

Chronique
