Synopsis
In the second pulse-pounding novel in the USA Today bestselling Heirs of Chicagoland series, vampire Elisa Sullivan gets drawn into the shifting sands of Pack politics.
Vampires were made, not born—until Elisa Sullivan came along. As the only vampire child in existence, she grew up with a heavy legacy, and tried to flee her past. Then circumstances drew her back to Chicago, and she stayed to keep it safe. With shifter Connor Keene, the only son of Pack Apex Gabriel Keene, at her side, she faced down a supernatural evil that threatened to destroy Chicago forever.
After the dust from the attack has settled, Elisa is surprised when Connor invites her to a usually private Pack event in the north woods of Minnesota, and by the warm welcome she receives from some of Connor’s family, even though she’s a vampire. But the peace doesn’t last. The shifters tell tales of a monster in the woods, and when the celebration is marred by death, Elisa and Connor find themselves in the middle of a struggle for control that forces Elisa to face her true self—fangs and all.
Review
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love Chloe Neill, I was more than eager to find Elisa and Connor in this second book of the series dedicated to them.
In the first book, there was a small connection between Elisa and Connor, who are respectively a vampire and a werewolf.
In Wicked Hour, Connor asks Elisa to accompany him to Minnesota on a pack business. In other words, everything will be complicated, not only must Connor get the Minnesota pack to admit Elisa, which is quite complex since werewolves don’t like vampires. Moreover on this territory there has already been a murder and the atmosphere within the pack is not very pleasant.
Elisa and Connor will have to solve a mystery and they will also have to make choices that will not be easy.
I love Elisa, she inherited the character traits of both her parents, she is a fighter like Meritt, an observer like Ethan and frankly I am impressed by her deductions every time. She also has to face the darkness she is sheltering, I am looking forward to discovering a little more about this subject because for the moment we are only touching it and even if Elisa learns to trust it and to release the monster at times, she will have to learn to live with it.
Connor is absolutely brilliant, I love his Alpha side, protective and possessive, yet he knows how to let go for Elisa, he understands that she doesn’t need anyone to defend herself. He will have to face his feelings and he will also learn that being the son of the Alpha does not necessarily open all the doors for him.
I really loved this story, this series is the worthy continuation of the Chicagoland Vampires series.
Quick Word: A second exciting book that plunges us into the world of the pack.
Chronique
