Synopsis
Balancing epic and intensely personal stakes, bestselling author Adam Silvera’s Infinity Son is a gritty, fast-paced adventure about two brothers caught up in a magical war generations in the making.
Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.
Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.
Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.
Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.
Review
Infinity son tells us the story of Emil and Brighton, two brothers who don’t really look alike.
Emil is an introvert while Brighton dreams of glory and glitter.
I set up the world for you, angels live among humans unfortunately since a tragic event where humans were killed by divine creatures.
Brighton is obsessed with his Vlog he is a fan of divine creatures and dreams of becoming one. Unfortunately for him it’s Emil who will have this chance even if he doesn’t want it. It is on Emil that the weight of saving the world will rest. He won’t be alone, of course.
I liked this first volume, which sets up the world and the characters. I like Emil very much. He’s full of love and compassion. Brighton is the exact opposite of the characters I like.
The story is nice and there is still a lot to discover.
Adam Silvera took a risk by going out of his usual register but the hero remains endearing. And yes, he’s gay and that’s something you don’t see very much in Fantasy.
Chronique
