About GOLDILOCKS:
For Olivia Adams, the world has always been too big or too small.
Forced to live her life caught between what she wanted for herself and the unfair choices and crazy obsession of those around her for as long as she could remember, Ollie has always felt confined and trapped. It was hard for her to imagine a future beyond the crushing control of those who wanted to make sure she paid the price for her role in a tragic accident that ruined several young lives. However, having no hope and living in a constant state of fear never stopped Ollie from dreaming of different ways to break free and how to reunite with the one person who always made her feel safe. Huck is the only one who ever made her feel like there was a place in his world, right by his side, that would fit her just right.
The world has always forced Huck Snyder to be a guy who runs either too hot or too cold.
Unwanted and barely tolerated, his temper burned hot and bright, often leading him into trouble. After the accident, he was tossed out, disowned, and forced to fend for himself. Struggling to survive, Huck quickly realized the only way he would make it was to freeze out every single memory and moment from his past. Especially those surrounding Ollie. He allowed his heart to harden into a block of ice and refused to let anyone close enough to melt it. Years have passed, and Huck has adjusted to the constant cold that permeates through his new life. He was in no way prepared for the only girl who could ever control his inner fire to show back up. Ollie is on the run and doesn’t seem to mind the chilly reception she receives when she shows up unannounced on Huck’s doorstep.
Fire and ice no longer define Huck because when he’s with Ollie, it’s easy to remember that the temperature between the two of them has always been just right.

Review
Ollie didn’t have an easy childhood, her mother worked for a rich family who had two children, a legitimate child, Sawyer and an illegitimate child, Huck. Huck has always protected Ollie from Sawyer who, let’s face it, is a real scumbag. However, after a tragic accident, Huck left. This all happened five years ago and now that her mother is dead Ollie has gone to find Huck to apologize and explain the situation.
I liked Ollie, she made a choice five years ago that she regrets but in the end it wasn’t really a choice but blackmail. Sawyer apparently excels in this area and has the money and mother to make it happen. Ollie has finally decided to take control of her life but she still has the scars of her past and Huck will not accept Ollie’s return so easily. She is a young girl who may seem fragile but she tries to be strong and overcome her fears. However nothing is simple because she knows that Sawyer can do whatever he wants to get her back, including destroying Huck.
Huck is a nice guy, he has a good heart but he doesn’t like when people want to piss off the one he loves. Ollie made him suffer, he doesn’t know the reasons and that’s why the story is sad. At fourteen years old Ollie had no other choice and it must be admitted that she suffered the most. Huck has managed to make new friends, whom he trusts, and Ollie’s return brings back all the bad times he had forgotten.
I enjoyed watching Ollie and Huck get to know each other again, trust each other. Huck can say whatever he wants but he will always try to protect Ollie, no matter what. I like Vernon a lot too, he is a very interesting boy.
It was a pleasure to find Jay Crownover’s writing again, I had just finished my reread of Rule when I saw Goldilocks appear on my Kindle and I can tell you that I didn’t hesitate one second before diving in. The little bonus at the end is the beginning of Fortunate Son which will tell us the story of Rule & Shaw’s son with Jet & Ayden’s daughter. And let me tell you that I am more than impatient to go back in the universe of the Marked men.
Quick word: A beautiful story of love and forgiveness.
Chronique
