Synopsis

Once upon a time, I was your average spunky redhead with the lamest employment history ever, a shaky relationship with my only family member, and no idea what I was doing with my life.

Now, I’m a pseudo mythic with the best bartending job in the world, the most amazing (and hot) best friends I never knew I needed, and a guild of misfit magic-users who’ve become my extended family.

And I’m about to lose it all.

In my desperation to save Ezra, I stumbled into a web of ruthless deception—and seriously pissed off a sleeping hydra. Now its every murderous head is turned toward me and my guild, and I don’t know how to stop it. I’m not sure I can.

I’m not sure anyone can.

But if we don’t, we’re all doomed—Ezra, Aaron, Kai, and my beloved guild.

Review

This is the last volume with Tori, Ezra, Kai and Aaron, on the one hand I was eager to know the end and on the other hand I did not want to leave this so exciting universe.

Robin found a way to save Ezra, unfortunately everything will not happen as planned, you already know that.

I’m not going to dwell on the story, I’m just going to give you my impressions.

I still love Tori so much, she has an impressive strength of character and she is stubborn, which is an advantage for Ezra.

Ezra doesn’t want to die, it took him a long time to realize this but now that it’s done he’s going to do everything he can to get through it. We can say that Tori has a lot to do with it.

I love this couple, they are made for each other, they are so touching.

Aaron and Kai are always there, they try to help Tori and Ezra the best they can. And so is the Guild. They’re all in danger and they’re all going to have to fight and defend themselves against all their attackers. Luckily they will be able to rely on characters we already know.

I won’t hide the fact that I loved meeting Zak again and I also loved seeing Kit and Lienna.

This series was really great, I devoured it in a fortnight, the characters are all fantastic, Annette Marie managed to bring out their human and warm side, with qualities and flaws but in the end love and friendship are stronger than anything else.

Quick word: A perfect conclusion that made my little heart beat until the end.

Chronique

About the author

Annette Marie is the author of YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, romantic fantasy Red Winter, and sassy UF series The Guild Codex.

Her first love is fantasy, while fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She proudly admits she has a thing for dragons, and her editor has inquired as to whether she intends to include them in every single book.

Annette lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad). She shares her life with her husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat—Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
