Synopsis

Eighteen-year-old Ziva prefers metal to people. She spends her days tucked away in her forge, safe from society and the anxiety it causes her, using her magical gift to craft unique weapons imbued with power.

Then Ziva receives a commission from a powerful warlord, and the result is a sword capable of stealing its victims’ secrets. A sword that can cut far deeper than the length of its blade. A sword with the strength to topple kingdoms. When Ziva learns of the warlord’s intentions to use the weapon to enslave all the world under her rule, she takes her sister and flees.

Joined by a distractingly handsome mercenary and a young scholar with extensive knowledge of the world’s known magics, Ziva and her sister set out on a quest to keep the sword safe until they can find a worthy wielder or a way to destroy it entirely.

A teenage blacksmith with social anxiety accepts a commission from the wrong person and is forced to go on the run to protect the world from the most powerful magical sword she’s ever made.

Review

Ziva is a young girl with magical powers, she can forge weapons and infuse them with magical power. She is one of the few people who can do this and her talent is sought after everywhere. She also suffers from anxiety and prefers to stay in her forge all day working. Her sister runs the social side of the store. However, when a warlord asks Ziva to create a destructive weapon for him, Ziva flees with her sister. They will be helped by a handsome mercenary and a young scholar.

I really liked this book, Ziva is very endearing, she takes care of her little sister since their parents died. She is going to have to socialize and she is going to get attached to Kellyn.

I loved the sisterhood and friendship between the two sisters. They are endearing, Temra knows her sister by heart, she knows when she should push her or leave her alone.

The romance builds slowly and the reactions of Kellyn and Ziva are sometimes funny.

The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and frankly I can’t wait to read more to find out what happens to our heroes.

Quick word: A thrilling story full of friendship and suspense.

Chronique
