I vowed nothing would keep us apart…
Fiona Reynolds is my other half.
It’s been that way from the day I was born.
I’ve dedicated my life to keep my promise.
Fate just laughs in our face.
She’s always out of reach, this time for good.
I’ll do anything to prove she’s my destiny.
If only she’d trust me one more time.
After what I’ve done, how can I deserve him?
Zane Rocks is my everything.
There’s no one I love or trust more than him.
It wasn’t his fault when he left me.
I always knew he’d find his way back.
Fear overwhelmed me, and I broke his heart.
Will most celebrated musician on the planet.
Really give me another chance?
When a rash decision changes their lives forever, hope for their future is all but shattered.
Stakes are high.
But Zane’s determined to prove a love this pure is timeless.
“Zane!” I pull away before turning around and shoving him. “You scared me. Where were you? You’re so mean.”
“I’m not mean.” He holds up a single yellow daffodil. “I saw this and wanted to pick it for you.”
My heart melts into a puddle. I love this boy. Zane always does sweet things for me. I immediately forgive him.
I always do.
“Thank you. It’s so pretty.” I take it and peer into Zane’s dark-brown eyes. His curly black hair hits his shoulders. His crooked smile makes me feel squishy inside.
He’s my other half.
Our moms say so anyway. And it feels true. Zane was born just a couple of months after me so we’re practically the same age. Our parents are best friends so we have spent nearly every day together since we were babies.
I can’t live without him. When we’re apart, it feels like something is missing. I throw my arms around him. “I was really scared that you got lost.”
Zane squeezes me back super tight. “Fee, don’t be scared. I was just over by the flower bed. Don’t worry. I’ll never, ever leave you.”
We press our heads together and rub. Head snuggles. That’s what we call it.
