Synopsis :
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.
The story :
It’s a lively story, we can’t trust nobody and when we began we can’t stop. Deznee like enerves her father and she doing a great job. Especially when she meets Kale and runs away with him. She will discovers that her father isn’t who he claims to be. As it’s the case for lot of people in this book. Even Deznee have a secret.
The characters :
Deznee is a kickass girl, she likes to be a pain in the ass of her father, skips scholl, drinks, partied. She’s a bad girl who hides the pain to have lost her mother very young. I like this character, for once the heroin isn’t a good girl. She’s a little bit crazy and fragile at the same time. Sometimes, I didn’t like her reactions which I found childish but she’s young so it’s understandable. She acts before thinking and it raises her some problems.
Kale is sexy, strong and as soon as he touch someone the latter dies. He always belong to Denazen and knows nothing of the outside world. He’s a little child who learns very fast. I like his childish reactions when he discover the world. He see the world in only too color black or white, good or bad. He also discovers strange feelings with Dez who is the only one person he can touch. I found that the relation between Dez and Kale was brought well even if actually I think Deznee trust him so quickly.
Deznee’s father, I don’t like him, he’s bad and always sees in several knocks beforehand on the chessboard. And for him, his daughter is a pawn as all other human beings.
My review :
I appreciated this book, I’m going to read all the following without any concerns. This book explains some things which I hope will be deepened in the following ones. There are no time-out, everything goes very fast and the style of Jus Accardo is just very good.
