Synopsis :

An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.
Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

The story :

We find Mercy who as usual has some problems. Well for this time it’s not her fault and I admit that I wanted to kill Christy several times. Necessarily, the bad guy is not human and Mercy is going to suffer from it.

The Characters :

Mercy is faithful to herself, she doesn’t hesitate to confront with the danger when it arrives, she tries to not be jealous toward Christy because she knows that the pack can suffer from it. She is in love with Adam and she’s going to get acquainted with an important character. I like very very much Mercy because after all that happened to her we feel that she’s afraid but that she manages to dominate her fears.

Adam remains Adam, protective, loving, hot, thoughtful and in this book he arrives sometimes to tempt me to strike him. He doesn’t like that people whom he protects are in danger and he overprotects Christy in depends on Mercy’s feelings. He knows that Mercy is rather strong to understand and to defend herself, only when he’s willing.

Christy came to take refuge at Adam’s and mercy and she takes up the house as if it was still her. Everybody lets her make and it has more or less annoying repercussions.

The pack loves Christy quite at least most of the pack and they do well to let Mercy understand when she goes too far. But some of them realize that Christy manipulates them.

We also find Stefan, Tad and Coyote.

My review :

I like a lot this book, he’s a very fast reading and very rhythmical. I like the feelings Patrica Briggs makes us feels at all the moments of the book, whether it’s love, jealousy, tenderness, friendship, fear or hostility. I would have liked seeing a little more Ben because it’s my boy, but the moments when we see him suit me well because he has the good reaction. I love Gary and Honey too. The relation between Mercy and Adam gone deeper and we know that to separate them will be needed a cataclysm and still I’m not sure that do the job.

The more we advance in this series and the more I’m an addict. The characters are more and more deepened. We learn it more on Mercy’s origins.

It’s a great book and if you like Mercy you like this one more than the others.
