Synopsis (from Goodreads)
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the second installment in the Saints of Denver series featuring a bad girl and a by the book attorney who could be her salvation…or her ruin.
Avett Walker and Quaid Jackson’s worlds have no reason to collide. Ever. Quaid is a high powered criminal attorney as slick as he is handsome. Avett is a pink-haired troublemaker with a bad attitude and a history of picking the wrong men.
When Avett lands in a sea of hot water because of one terrible mistake, the only person who can get her out of it is the insanely sexy lawyer. The last thing on earth she wants to do is rely on the no-nonsense attorney who thinks of her as nothing more than a nuisance. He literally has her fate in his hands. Yet there is something about him that makes her want to convince him to loosen his tie and have a little fun…with her.
Quaid never takes on clients like the impulsive young woman with a Technicolor dye job. She could stand to learn a hard lesson or two, but something about her guileless hazel eyes intrigues him. Still, he’s determined to keep their relationship strictly business. But doing so is becoming more impossible with each day he spends with her.
As they work side-by-side, they’ll have to figure out a way to get along and keep their hands off each other—because the chemistry between them is beyond charged.
Review
OMG this book is incredibly good, Avett and Quaid are perfect and as always Jay Crownover write a beautiful story.
Avett is Brite’s daughter, if you have read Asa, you must remember that she was with her boyfriend when he robbed Rome’s bar. Now she’s in jail and Asa paid for her lawyer, who is the same who saved him from jail. Avett had always have problem with authorities, she always do what she wants, when she wants, with who she wants, generally with bad boys. The jail changes her and now she wants to take good decisions but for that she must understand that she’s not guilty and she doesn’t deserves to suffer. She’s also very attracted by her lawyer, Quaid, the Legal Eagle as she loves to call him.
Quaid is a lawyer and a good one, he works in a good firm and wants to be a partner. His ex wife cheat on him and he doesn’t want to be with a woman except for sex. But Hurrican Avett will change his life, he finds her very attractive and wild, he wants to protect her and is doing his job very well.
Avett and Quaid are perfect, I love them so much, Avett is not an innocent girl but I understand why she feels guilty and why she’s acting like that. She’s strong because after her last mistakes she wants to make things good for her parents. Brite was always good and always forgive her and come to her rescue, her mother, not so much but she also have her reasons. Avett is a good girl, she’s just lost herself in the guilt and she thinks that she needs to suffer. I like the way she’s taking on herself to do the right thing for her parents, Asa, Roma and even Quaid.
Quaid is a very attractive man who has got an awful wife and who works too much for his own good. He’s a very good lawyer and nobody knows where he comes from, he had nothing when he was young and now he wants to have everything. He will just understand that everything is not what he needs, he just needs Avett. I love him, he’s one of the best characters created by Jay, I love the way he defends, reassure and protect Avett, he’s a good man even when he defends bad guy. He also very arrogant but that’s a good thing when you’re a lawyer.
Brite is such a big man with a big heart, he doesn’t love when his daughter suffers. He will do everything to save her and protect her, I like him, he’s such a good man and I like the way he talk about his Boys.
Asa and Rome appears a little in this book and I love seeing them, Asa has always good advice and Avett is a little like him, so he wants to protect her. Rome is the big boy who knows that even with her mistakes she can do great things. It was good seeing them and I like that very much.
This story talk about redemption, forgiveness and love, Jay Crownover has done a really good job because in the paper Avett and Quaid are so different, Avett isn’t a person you can love if you have read Asa but she has a lot of potential and Jay sees that. I like the fact that Avett is saved by the Legal Eagle and not really by her parents, it means more things because Parents are always here to love child but we don’t listen to them, usually.
I love Jay’s books and I think she has a real talent to create character who needs help and other who are here to help. I’m always transported by her books but this one was so much more, Rule will be forever my favorite but Charged is the next on the list because there is so much love and need in this book. The characters are perfect for each other and they have to fight for what they want.
Quick Word: A beautiful story of two perfect characters with imperfection that are means to be together.
