Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.
Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.
Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?
But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.
This book is as good as the first one, Ivy is weak and less badass but she has her reasons, so I understand her perfectly. She learned the truth about herself and this can changes her life, and it will. She is always herself; she doesn’t want that Ren discover what she really is. The fact that she is hiding something so important is a bit of a shock to me because I think she should know now that the truth always reveals itself. I felt bad for her when she finally decided to tell him the truth but in the end I knew it was a good thing. For the rest of the story I can just say that the Prince is really horrible and that now Ivy is shattered. But I love her strength; she never hesitates to do what it takes to save the people she loves. Her combativeness is a force but sometimes it can also make her suffer, she is so nervous that it put her in inextricable situations.
I appreciate a lot Ren, he is adorable, he takes care of Ivy while she is hurt, and he fights for her. When he learns the truth about her he’s lost but I appreciate that he knows how to question himself and that his love is stronger than anything.
And there is Tink, full of surprise and always very funny. We discover a lot of new things about him and I love this character, he loves Ivy and protects her the best he can. I love his “discussions” with Ren and I love the fact that he is a fan of Daryl and amazon Prime.
I really like this book, it’s a true JLA’s book with a romance, some great characters and it can be funny or serious. I’m really impatient to read the last book and finally see Ivy kill the Prince, or at least I hope that’s what she’ll do.
