Synopsis

I’m Paxton Wilder.
Motocross phenom & adrenaline junkie.
I have more tattoos than scars.
And I’ve never seen a stunt I couldn’t pull off–
Or a girl I can’t get off.
Until she walks in.

My new tutor is sexy, smart, more stubborn than I am, and one hundred percent off limits.
That’s right–the only rule this semester is Don’t Touch the Tutor.
For the first time in my life, I want someone I can’t have.
She’s the girl who obeys every rule.
I’m the guy who breaks them.
Our biggest risk is falling for each other,
but I live for risk…

Review

The summary covers the story fairly well so I will not add to it, I will try to write a review that will honor this book which for me is a real favorite.

Let’s start with the characters, Leah came on the boat to take classes for nine months and tutoring with a student she doesn’t know. She seized this chance to advance in life and forget her accident. She’s stubborn and doesn’t let go, at first glance she’s attracted by Paxton but she knows that this boy is a womanizer. He will push her into her entrenchments, relearning her to live and take risks. I love Leah very much, she’s a girl full of energy and she has a will and strength of character that inspires me. She has doubts but she happens to take on it, with Paxton.

Paxton likes danger and adrenaline, extreme sports is his thing but when he meets his tutor, he finds it hard not to fall under the spell. He will do everything in his power to make her feel confident and face her fears, even if he will have to use patience. I love Paxton, he’s tender but he knows how to push Leah by protecting it. Paxton doesn’t really believe in love, he hasn’t had a good example with his parents, or even with one of his girlfriends. He doesn’t like school and if he doesn’t have his term, he will not be able to stay on the boat, finish shooting the documentary of the Renegades and Leah will be forced to go home. He has a lot of responsibility and the biggest one is Nick, his best friend.

The rest of the original team of the Renegades consists of Landon / Nova and Penna / Rebel, I love these two characters, they break necks and they form a real family who protect and love unconditionally. Rachel, Leah’s best friend, had to come with her, but following a mononucleosis that cloistered her to bed, she had to wait three months before boarding. This doesn’t prevent her from contacting Leah by telephone.

I loved the story, the fact that it happens on a boat with people practicing extreme sports is just great. I liked the characters, their complexity and their way of evolving. These young people are crazy, but it gives so much envy, danger and adrenaline are so well brought that frankly I want to get there.

Rebecca Yarros writes very well, the characters are endearing, I had more than once want to be in the place Leah and even Paxton. The style is fluid and it’s a real pleasure to have discovered it, thank you Harlequin France. Nothing bothered me in this book, whether it’s the main story, the secondary one, the characters or the environment, I loved everything. I had no surprises at the end as I expected but it doesn’t matter. I was so impatient to read the book on Nova that I’m actually reading it in VO and frankly I like too much.

Quick word : A real nugget to read absolutely.

About the author

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and a lover of all things coffee, chocolate, and Paleo. She is the author of the Flight & Glory series, including Full Measures, the award-winning Eyes Turned Skyward, Beyond What is Given, and Hallowed Ground. Her new Renegade Series features Wilder and the upcoming Nova, and is sure to keep your heart pounding. She loves military heroes, and has been blissfully married to hers for fourteen years.

When she’s not writing, she’s tying hockey skates for her four sons, sneaking in some guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with the hottest Apache pilot ever, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, an English bulldog who is more stubborn than sweet, and a bunny named General Fluffy Pants who torments the aforementioned bulldog. They recently adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, and Rebecca is passionate about helping others do the same.
