Jezebel is a successful romance writer, yet she’s harassed by a stranger. To reassure her best friend who is none other than her agent, she hires a bodyguard.
James Blakely is sexy and sure of himself, when he accepts the job offered by Jezebel he knows that the complications aren’t far because he’s attracted by this charming lady who doesn’t stop making advances.
Jezebel knows what she wants, professionally or personally, and what she wants is to put James Blakely in her bed, no matter if her life is at stake and he doesn’t want to mix everything up.
The lies we keep is an interesting story, the subject of harassment is present but it’s not the main theme. This book remains a romance, even if the end is not a surprise, I will read the second book to know the story of James.
I don’t say that Jezebel’s was not interesting but I think the subject is overflown; I haven’t really managed to attach myself to Jezebel. She’s a talented author, however I find that her reactions are selfish and it bothers me. I think that the subject of her past could have been treated more deeply so that we could focus more on Jezebel and understand it more easily.
As far as James is concerned, I think that his character has a lot more depth and his past torments him, we feel that the subject is present in the background and will be treated in the next book.
The lies we keep is a story that reads quickly and agreeably.
Quick word: A story to read near the fire in winter.
