Synopsis
Beckett,
If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.
I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.
My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.
And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.
So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.
Please don’t make her go through it alone.
Ryan
Review
Ryan asks his sister Ella to write letters to his friend Chaos, who is also a soldier. Both are on a mission in the Special Forces. When Ryan dies the letters stop but Beckett comes to take care of Ella and the twins without revealing to her that he is Chaos when she thinks he is dead with her brother.
This book is dramatically beautiful, you must absolutely have a box of tissues next to you, it is imperative because you can’t be insensitive to Ella’s pain.
Ella is really unlucky, married young, pregnant with twins at 19, the father who leaves her, her parents who died, her brother in the Special Forces who also dies and she discovers that Maisie, her 6-year-old daughter, has cancer. In short, everything is dramatic in her life but despite everything she manages to keep hope for her children.
She will have a lot of trouble with Beckett because she doesn’t appreciate that her brother asked her to look after her and protect her. Of course, as she doesn’t know that Beckett is Chaos, he will gradually interfere in the life of the little family and help them as best he can.
I wouldn’t tell you any more because you have to read this book, it’s a masterpiece and frankly, Rebecca Yarros has a real talent for making you cry. Ella is so brave, I understand that at times she breaks down, Beckett in her own way does everything to help her even if he shouldn’t hide the truth from her. He has trouble accepting Ryan’s death too.
Quick word: A sad story but with hope at the end of the tunnel.
Chronique
