Synopsis

Three months ago, I landed a job as a bartender. But not at a bar—at a guild. Yeah, the magic kind.

I’m not a badass mage like my three smokin’ hot best friends. I’m not a sorcerer or an alchemist, or even a wussy witch. I’m just a human, slinging drinks like a pro and keeping my non-magical nose out of mythic business. Seriously, I know my limits.

So why am I currently standing in a black-magic ritual circle across from a fae lord?

Somewhere behind me, my three mage friends are battling for their lives. Somewhere near my feet is the rogue witch I just knocked out with a stolen spell. And I have about five seconds to convince this very angry sea god not to shmoosh me like a bug.

I’m pretty sure this wasn’t part of the job description.

Review

In this third book we enter a little more into the world of the Fae, Tori is taking more and more risks and her life is going to change.

I loved meeting Zac again, I really like the interactions between Tori and Zac, they have such a different character, yet we can feel that Zac is starting to get attached to the little human.

Secrets are going to start to be discovered, we discover a little more about some of the characters.

This book brings us to a first turning point in Tori’s life, she’s already in the middle of the magic side but for the moment the human side doesn’t mix too much, there everything is going to get complicated for her.

I still love Tori’s strength of character and determination, even if sometimes it leads her into quite catastrophic situations. At the same time these books would not exist without Tori and her bad temper.

I liked finding out a little bit more about Kai, I might as well tell you that I didn’t suspect what I learned.

The confrontation between the boys and Zac is quite funny but at the same time they all want to save Tori so they have to work together.

Once again, the action is happening, there is no time to rest and put the book down, every time something happens and you want to know how they are all going to get through it.

Quick word: Another captivating tome that promises nothing but good things to come.

Chronique

About the author

Annette Marie is the author of YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, romantic fantasy Red Winter, and sassy UF series The Guild Codex.

Her first love is fantasy, while fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She proudly admits she has a thing for dragons, and her editor has inquired as to whether she intends to include them in every single book.

Annette lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad). She shares her life with her husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat—Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
